the wind giggles, then laughs out loud
only the gods know what about
for in the weeds,
where wishes become seeds
between the kisses of wet leaves
and the sticks and stones and bones of thieves
the spores still cling, to hear her sing
with the gallant heel clicks of soldiers
as they march in unison to bring their offering.
